General Meeting Minutes
August 5, 2010
Meeting was called to order at 1145am by President Jeff Burdette.
Present: Jeff Burdette, Peggy Moeller-Mead, Carolyn Hocke, Deea Emmons, Susan Walker, Mary Martinez
Absent: Paul Mendoza
Guest Speaker- Amanda Molina - The Garrity Group & David McCoy of SMACNA
New Mexico’s premier union built properties. MESA- The Mechanical, Electrical and Sheet Metal alliance of New Mexico. Provided brochures to the Chamber members regarding the types of projects they have built here. Such as Paseo Nuevo Office Complex, Tri-Services Reference Laboratories Building, Buffalo Thunder Resort, UNM Children’s Hospital, Albuquerque Studios, UNM Centennial Engineering Center. Mr. McCoy stated that 70% of our NM students are not college bound and the trade unions are pushing to bring vocational programs back into the schools so that students may have other choices pertaining to the trades. He also discussed the out of State contractors as to how it affect New Mexican contractors both in the positive light and negative.

Executive Report- Jeff Burdette
Meetings are not happening, No community updates. Mr. Burdette will be calling the other Chambers.
Senior Center- Should have the Grand Opening on September 19, 2010.
Historical Society- Invite to the Society to bring their photo archive to the Welcome Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. www.EastMountainHistory.org

Presenting “In Old New Mexico” at Los Vecinos Community Center on Saturdays, September,4 11, 18 at 700pm, Sundays, September 5, 12 and 19 at 200pm. Food is served 30 minutes before the curtain call. August 7, 2010 Pamela is collecting School Supplies at her home located at 34 Valle Hermosa at 7:00pm.

Linda Schaffer of Comfort Keepers- There is a Food Drive table at the Senior Center, please drop your donations. Linda is teaming up with Albuquerque Comfort Keepers for this food drive.
August 6, 2010 Martin Heinrich will be at the Triangle at 2:45pm and then stopping at Paul Mendoza’s office “Edward Jones”.
Sid Morgan- Crews will be working on the top of Cedro Peak regarding a 10 acre fuel break. This winter burning slash.
YWCA- Melanie 505-254-9922.
The Y is located behind the Sandia Ranger Station. The YWCA was established in 1935 and has been closed for the last 5 years. They have a camp, youth group and Tech Girls club. The building can be leased for special occasions, groups, etc. Please call Melanie if you would like a tour.
