General Meeting Minutes
January 7, 2010
Meeting was called to order at 11:45 am by President Jeff Burdette.
Present: Jeff Burdette, Peggy Moeller-Mead, Deea Emmons, Paul Mendoza, Jacob Sena

Agenda Item I. Guest Speaker, Charles Ashby and Jesse Lopez-Business Development Specialist
Discussed Bernalillo County’s Increment of 1 Initiative and the Small Business Summit on Wednesday
February 24, 2010 at the Albuquerque Studios from 1130am - 530pm. RSVP at Nicole@garritypr.com
More information available at www.bernco.gov/ed Summit will cover small business training, capital,
workman’s compensation, loans, grants, media access, tools, ideas, marketing ideas and tracking. The
Increment of 1 Initiative and this Bernalillo Department is here to assist small business succeed and
employ local citizens. A 4 step process to assist small business; 1- tour the business, 2- gather data, 3-
create an agenda, 4-facilitate. Bernalillo has visited 25 businesses so far, one being What About the
Flowers
Agenda Item II. New Member Presentation – Elton Allen Trail Rider Pizza
Mr. Allen introduced himself and his brother Otter Allen. Trail Rider’s Pizza is a family run company
located in Tijeras. In 2006 they were honored with the Best Pizza Award by 94Rock and have been
featured in the Mountain Telegraph, The Independent and the Albuquerque Journal. Trail Rider’s is now
offering a “Take n Bake” service. For a small deposit $5.00 you take home your pizza screen for baking.
When you feel the urge for a great pizza call in an order your take n bake. Trail Rider’s provided the
Chamber Lunch today.
Agenda Item III Treasurers Report- Betty Miller- 2009- $2592.23 as of December 31, 2009
As of December 31, 2009 the Chamber has 100 members with 5 renewals, 1 new member and 10 half
year members. The Chamber has now changed over to a rolling 12 month membership.
Agenda Item IV Breakfast With Santa – Paul Mendoza
The approximate earnings for Breakfast With Santa is $700.00. There were 600 to 800 people in
attendance. This event is executed through 100% donations. Discussed using the ticketing system next
year to clarify how many individuals purchased a meal. The event has collected $347.00 and expects
another $672.00 from donations. Next year the event needs to focus on the venue itself and the clean
up after the event as there were only 4 people after the event for clean up> They did not leave the
building until 530pm-600pm. Mr. Mendoza suggested paying Los Vecinos $100.00 for clean up. He is
open to suggestions, ideas or to answer any questions members might have. Discussed photographer
and his costs. The photographer takes 80% from the charge to visit with Santa. At 80% he earned
$968.00 for this event. Chamber members present agreed that this was too much and suggested using
Moriarty’s photo printer and a Chamber member to take digital photos as this will greatly assist the
Chamber’s earnings. It was also agreed to create line items for this event for next year. Mr. Mendoza
provided a spread sheet to the members. Mr. Mendoza thanked all who helped set up, cook, ran
booths, the Clause’s and the clean up crew for all of their hard work.
Agenda Item V Executive Board Report
· State of the Chamber - Invite people and/or businesses to join the Chamber or contact President
Burdette and he will extend the invitation to join. As a Chamber we need to support our
members’ businesses and recognize our Chamber members contributions, achievements and
events. The goal for membership this year is 150 members as our current membership cannot
support our Chamber.
· Visitor Center Lease - President Burdette stated and understanding did occur at his last meeting
with Mayor Chavez. The Chamber rent will be raised from $200.00 to $250.00 per month. In
2011 it most likely will be raised to $300.00 per month. Again, it was mentioned that the
Chamber building is not used enough, as we are only open on Mondays and Fridays. President
Burdette is asking Chamber members to host the Chamber building on Wednesdays for two
hour increments. He will host the first Wednesday of every month from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The Village will donate a wireless router. The Wednesday hosting will begin February 2010.
Please contact President Burdette to schedule your Wednesday 2 hour hosting. The Village
charge to rent this building is $25.00. As a Chamber member you may use the conference room
for free on Mondays & Fridays from noon to 4:00pm and Wednesdays from 10:00am until
4:00pm. The Village is installing a keyless entry system, when you register to use the building
you will be given an entry card with the hours of use preprogrammed. President Burdette, Julie
Albright and Susan Walker will have a keyless card for the Chamber building. The Village is
scheduled to receive 1.2 million from the State to build the Senior Center next door. It was
suggested that the seniors could host the building on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A stone pillared
lighted sign will be installed for Chamber and Senior Center. The Chamber must have a letter to
extend the lease for 2011 on November 25, 2010. It was suggested to have a sit and speak with
the Village prior November 25, 2010. On January 19th, 2010 the Village meeting at 5:30pm has
the Chamber lease on the agenda.
· N-14 Sector Plan, January 14, 2010 5:30p -7:30p at Vista Grande - President Burdette is asking
Chamber members to attend as the business community should be represented during the
Sector planning stage.
Ÿ Treasurer - The By-Laws allow an audit if desired by the Chamber members. A audit committee
would then review the data. Susan Walker as Treasurer of the Chamber has spoken with Floyd
DeGroet and he has agreed to go over the Chamber books every quarter.
New Business
· Open Board Position - There is a Member at Large position on the Board. If interested please let
President Burdette know.
· Drawing Member of the Month- Brandy’s Hair
Ÿ Ellen Ashcroft - Publicity - Deadline for Chamber Voice news article is January 18th, 2010. Please
submit all photos, information etc. to Ellen.
Ÿ Affiliate Membership - The multi-membership is $190.00, $100.00 to your home Chamber and
$90.00 for the remaining 3 Chambers.
Ÿ Motion by Susan Clayco to authorize President Burdette for the expenditure of $500.00 for Julie
Albright and to authorize the expenditure of $1200.00 for the Chamber insurance Year 2010,
Seconded by Carolyn Hocke. All are in favor, Motion Carried.
Announcements
· Lori Webster of EMHS - HGTV Dream Home located in San Pedro will be having tour s to the
home that will depart from EMHS. The cost is $20.00 to preview this home. It is estimated to
have 6000 to 10000 visitors. Please contact Lori if you would like to set up a booth at the
school or volunteer to help with the home tour. Remember to visit the HGTV website daily to
enter in the drawing to win the home.
Ÿ Board Meeting to follow General meeting today.
· Edgewood Chamber Lunch- January 13, 2010 11:30am -1:00pm
· Tijeras Village Council meetings- 6:00pm-7:00pm 1st Monday each month Zoning session, 2nd &
3rd Monday each month normal Council meetings.
Ÿ Linda Schafer owner of Comfort Keeper’s thanked Peggy Moeller-Mead and the Woodlands for
donating over 600 lbs of food for the Senior Food Drive.
· Recycling bins are available for bottles and cans, please recycle.
