In addition to electrical and plumbing they sell water storage tanks, rain barrels, water jugs, filters, water softeners, RO systems and free water testing. They have been licensed since 1987 as Howe Electric and have 4 lincenses to do anything from small to major remodeling jobs. They are licensed in 18 states but specialize in the East Mountains. They are open from 6am to 5pm weekdays.
The New Member Presentation was given by Sandra Trujillo from the Ramada Inn in Albuquerque. They are formerly Howard Johnsons and located in Hotel Circle in Northeast Albuquerque off the Eubank exit from I-40. They have 150 rooms, a fitness center, are pet friendly and smoke free. They can pick up from the airport. Room rates start at $69 and they have group discounts. They have a 4000 sq ft conference center separate from the hotel available for meetings , weddings, etc. and do allow food to be brought in from the outside. There are 2 restaurants on site, Sadies and The Owl Café.
Guest Speaker was Dr. Joy Lovette from Vista Care Hospice. This is patient and family care driven and available to people whose disease progress, if continues, will not be alive in 6 months. Insurance will cover hospice and this is not a gift, but a right. They have certified nursing assistants and chaplins. Their assistance takes the stress off the care givers. The average person uses hospice the last 23 days of their life but in New Mexico the average is only 18 days. The cost of hospice is usually nothing.
The Member of the Month is the NM Coalition for Literacy.
The Meeting was adjourned at 1:12pm.
Respectfully Submitted by Secretary,
Diane Shoudt
